Move Over, Santa

Santa Claus is not the only mythical creature with a workshop. I now have one, too, though in point of fact my workshop is actually just the kitchen island and an old TV armoire I rigged up with a bunch of art supplies.

Nevertheless, I’ve named my workshop and given it a virtual storefront on Etsy after hundreds of Facebook friends (three or four) suggested that I should start peddling my linocut prints. I was very nervous about the prospect of actually selling stuff I made, but then I went on Etsy and took stock of some of the items other artistes were selling and decided it was okay to throw my wares into the mix. Also, I priced them pretty cheap. Anyway, this is why I’ve been MIA on the blog lately.

I feel I must mention that my prints are in foreign languages (two in Lithuanian, one in French.) You can read the translations by clicking through to Etsy and reading the “product description.” But listen, a picture of an insomniac hedgehog with a Lithuanian adage on it is a great conversation piece.

I’ll be adding more items as I make them. That, or I’ll take the whole thing down and burn the evidence. Either way, won’t you please take a look and share with your friends?

Have you seen Regretsy? Your stuff totally has a place on Etsy. Much classier than some of the handmade stuff there.

The oldest greeting cards we have today date back to the 14th century, made somewhere in Europe. The culture of giving greeting cards developed in the 19th century when printing press came into the picture. Greeting cards, these days, are of various types. These types include standard greeting cards, photo greeting cards, personalized greeting cards, reusable greeting cards, electronic greeting cards etc. The pictures and messages in greeting cards come in various styles, which range from fine arts to profane. Although in today’s world, technology has made everything so fast and easy, but the charm and warmth of sending a card to someone is not lost…
